Three decades after recording their first incendiary songs as teenagers reared in the budding hardcore scene in Los Angeles, Bad Religion are marking their 30 year anniversary with a new record, filled with both the free thinking ire that has fueled the band from the very beginning, and a certain introspection that comes only from long-lived experience.

“While we’re celebrating our 30th anniversary as a band this year it’s also a time when Greg and I have embarked on new creative pursuits which have informed our songwriting process. I’m a new parent again and Greg a new author having just completed his first book Anarchy Evolution,” says Gurewitz. “So the songs are a distillation of where we’ve been and who we are now…a natural evolution of creativity.”

Working again with producer Joe Barresi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool), Bad Religion entered the studio armed with 16 songs that are filled with deeply personal experiences, cautionary tales and a developing worldview, spanning the gauntlet from their signature high energy punk rock to a more introspective melodic sound.

“We wouldn’t embark on this new creative endeavor, Brett wouldn’t have embarked on parenthood, I wouldn’t have embarked on writing a book, if we hadn’t reached a place in our lives where we felt the confidence that we had something to offer and that’s what these songs represent,” adds Graffin. “They represent a new found confidence that things are starting to make sense to us.”

“Being a new parent has colored my whole world,” continues Gurewitz. “As a result I’ve written songs that at least for me, are somewhat less angsty and more introspective and vulnerable. The experience has emboldened me to take some creative risks as a songwriter that I’ve not allowed myself to take before.”

Risks that nevertheless have already been embraced by the band’s passionate fans, as evidenced by the overwhelming response to two new songs, “Resist Stance” and “Won’t Somebody.” The songs were debuted during a series of live shows celebrating Bad Religion’s anniversary, recorded and given away as part of a free digital album, 30 Years Live, as a thank you to their fans for their support over the last three decades. Rabid fans immediately lit up blogs and message boards with raves about the new material and excitement over the new record, which will be out this fall. In the meantime, Bad Religion continue to tour the world, bringing their amazing live show to more new countries and playing more shows with each passing year.

Stay tuned to www.badreligion.com and www.epitaph.com for updates and news about Bad Religion’s new studio album!

Epitaph Records is proud to welcome Southern California’s iconic rock ‘n’ roll group Social Distortion to the label with plans to release their first studio album since 2004 in fall 2010. The signing pairs one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most renowned bands with one of the most respected independent labels for what could be the greatest match in decades.

“We feel that Epitaph has a natural understanding of Social Distortion; both the history of the band and the direction we want to go,” says frontman Mike Ness. ”Combine that with their successful track record and it felt like a good next step for us. We’ve always been open to new ideas and pushing the envelope, but we have also been very conscientious about the decisions we’ve made. We considered a lot of options, but in the end, Epitaph feels like the right home for us. We’re looking forward to taking this step forward, opening some new doors with this upcoming album and this next chapter of Social Distortion.”

“My relationship with Mike goes way back to the beginnings of our careers in the LA music scene,” adds Epitaph owner and president Brett Gurewitz. “Through the years Social Distortion have been a matchless voice in American rock and roll and I couldn’t be more thrilled to play a part in the next chapter for this great band.”

In March the band entered a Burbank studio to record their yet to be titled seventh studio album, produced by Mike Ness, which is slated for release this fall.

“We went back to tape, old compressors and old microphones,” Ness recently told Spinner.com. “We’re just really trying to fight modern technology as much as possible.”

“The record reminds me very much of Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell (the band’s 1992 release), but also I’m bringing elements of early New York ’70s punk,” said Ness.

Social Distortion also recently announced a U.S. summer tour with Dan Sartain and The Action Design. The tour kicks off July 27 in Poughkeepsie, NY and makes seven stops in the Northeast before the band heads to Chicago for an August 7 main stage performance at this year’s Lollapalooza. Dates with Dan Sartain and The Action Design resume in Green Bay, Wisconsin on August 8. A complete list of tour dates follows.

Formed in Fullerton, CA in 1979, Social Distortion have spent the last three decades performing their signature style of roots driven rock ‘n’ roll and hard luck stories for fans worldwide while recording six classic, critically heralded albums including Mommy’s Little Monster, Prison Bound, Social Distortion, Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell, White Light, White Heat, White Trash and Sex, Love and Rock ‘n’ Roll.

UK metal band Bring Me The Horizon have entered the studio to record their anticipated follow-up to the band’s breakthrough 2008 album Suicide Season, which Epitaph Records recently released as a Deluxe Edition in the US.

Having spent the past few months holed up in their Sheffield rehearsal studio writing material for their third studio album, Bring Me The Horizon have entered Sweden’s Studio Fredman where they are once again working with famed metal producer Frederik Nordström (Arch Enemy, Opeth, At The Gates) on their yet to be titled album which is due for release August 2010.

“2009 was one hell of a year, non-stop for us really,” says infamous frontman Oli Sykes. “Our second album Suicide Season has taken us further than we ever thought was possible. I think we found our unique sound with that album and the next is going to be using Suicide Season as a base, but pushing it further in every single way imaginable. It’s happening with Fredrick Nordström again, since he made us sound so amazing last time – all very exciting, stay tuned!”

“We’ve spent the last few months writing new material for the 3rd album and we are stoked as hell on what we’ve penned,” adds guitarist Jona Weinhofen. “This will also be my first recording with the band and I’m definitely excited to be working on something new and so different to my previous works. We’ve taken in a broad array of influences during the writing period and I think it will show on this album more than ever before. Fans can expect new ideas, experimentation and more adventurous production. We’ve really focused on our song structures and keeping the songs catchy and listenable. But don’t freak out! It’s still the BMTH you know and love, and there will be plenty of heavy, fast riffing and plenty of breakdowns to keep your fists pounding and your heads banging!”

Bring Me The Horizon are currently hard at work in the first week of their recording schedule having almost completed drum tracking. The band will also film a series of studio diaries and short documentaries which will be released soon and will be available to view on the bands MySpace page and website.

Epitaph Records, in partnership with Running Man Records, is proud to announce the signing of pop-punk group Veara. The Augusta, GA based band recently wrapped recording on their new studio album, which is expected for release this spring. Fans can get an early listen to the first track, “We Have A Body Count,” from the new record now on the band’s MySpace page www.myspace.com/veara, watch a special video message from the band here (http://tinyurl.com/yhxozup) and check out an in-studio webisode here (http://tinyurl.com/yfr4uw6). The pop-punk foursome consisting of Bradley Wyrosdick (Vocals), Patrick Bambrick (Vocals/Guitar), Bryan Kerr (Vocals/Bass) and Brittany Harrell (Drums) formed in 2003 and have since self-released an EP and full-length album and have toured with bands like The Maine, DangerRadio and Powerspace. In 2009 the band contacted Jeremy McKinnon and Joshua Woodard of hot pop-punk outfit A Day To Remember, who were looking for bands to work with on their newly formed company Running Man Records, and the rest is history.

“The dudes in Veara called me one night to see if I was in town and if I wanted to stop by and check out their new demos they had just wrapped up,” explains Woodard. “I got them to burn me a CD, and within 5 minutes of leaving them I knew they were the band I wanted to work with.”

In January of 2010, Veara entered Wade Studios in Ocala, FL, with McKinnon in the producer’s chair and Andrew Wade tracking and mixing, where they recorded their forthcoming album. Looking for a partner to release the record, McKinnon and Woodard contacted Epitaph’s owner and president Brett Gurewitz who was immediately interested and inked a deal with the band and Running Man to release the album.

“Signing with Epitaph is something that we used to dream of,” says guitarist Bambrick. “We cannot express how stoked we are to be signing with a label that we have been fans of for years. Epitaph has put out many timeless albums, and we are stoked to be a part of an awesome family.”

Already championed by readers on popular music site Absolutlepunk.net, Veara’s explosive edgy pop-punk riffs and catchy hook driven choruses have made them one of the year’s most promising breakout bands. Catch the band live on their upcoming tour with A Day To Remember, August Burns Red, Silverstein and Enter Shikari this April.

Stay tuned for more info on Veara’s debut album from Epitaph Records and Running Man Records!

Celebrated punk rock cult heroes, Alkaline Trio have announced the release of their forthcoming album, This Addiction, on February 23 via Epitaph Records/Heart & Skull.

Recorded and produced by the band with help from longtime cohort Matt Allison at Atlas Studios in Chicago, This Addiction marks Alkaline Trio’s first release on their imprint label Heart & Skull and first with their parent label Epitaph Records.
The album also finds the Trio revisiting their punk roots while moving forward creatively.

“This record is a rock record but our punk rock upbringing definitely shines through, more so than our last few records,” singer/guitarist Matt Skiba recently told Spinner.com. “The vibe is similar to our humble beginnings. It’s a step forward but I also think it has glimmers of our past in it.”

Beginning January 5, fans can visit www.ThisAddiction.org where they will have the opportunity to stream the title track and first single “This Addiction,” in exchange for a Twitter or Facebook posting. A metaphoric crowd pleaser, “This Addiction” is “about a relationship gone bad and, for some reason, you just can’t quit it,” Skiba told Spinner.com. The single is also currently available for sale on iTunes and at other digital retailers.

The album’s title track and first single wastes no time in setting the tone of the album as it rips and roars with Matt Skiba’s exceptional vocals and signature guitar riffs, bassist and co/vocalist Dan Andriano’s thumping low-end and drummer Derek Grant’s steadfast beats. From soon-to-be fan-favorites like the Andriano led rocker “Dine, Dine My Darling” and politically charged anthem “The American Scream” to the sonically mesmerizing rhythm and lyrics of “Dorothy” and the thrilling sing-along “Draculina,” This Addiction showcases Skiba, Andriano and Grant’s abounding gift for songwriting and crafting passionate punk fueled rock that will make fans fall in love with them all over again.

“I think that we wanted to make a punk rock record that we’ve been describing as ‘thinking-man’s punk,’” said Skiba. “We wanted to do something that’s fun but also interesting and lyrically, something that will be fun for people to read along to and hopefully understand.”

The band’s seventh studio album, This Addiction, will be available as a standard CD, a limited Deluxe CD/DVD edition (containing two bonus songs, four acoustic tracks and a full length concert DVD), as well as Gatefold LP vinyl. Epitaph will also have exclusive items signed by the band, rare vinyl and Limited Collector’s bundles – all with a standard digital download or a Deluxe Digital Download. Pre-orders for This Addiction begin Tuesday, January 5th here: http://www.kingsroadmerch.com/epitaph-records/artist/?id=154.

Alkaline Trio first emerged from Chicago in 1996 and has since released the full length studio albums Goddamnit, Maybe I’ll Catch Fire, From Here To Infirmary, Good Mourning, Crimson and last year’s Agony & Irony, which was the highest charting record for the band’s to date. The band is comprised of Skiba, Andriano and drummer Derek Grant, all of whom are partners in Heart & Skull.
