Nothing says rock and roll like a good meal, especially when it’s with the frontman of your favorite band. Fans of The Almost will have the chance to cook with singer Aaron in The Almost Culinary Contest. Entrants must submit a video of themselves cooking their favorite dish to the Culinary Contest YouTube Group, and Aaron will choose the recipe that he likes best. The winner will be flown out to the Capitol Tower in Los Angeles on November 10th to cook on camera with Aaron, and attend The Almost show at the Wiltern Theater later that night. The contest starts now and will run through October 30th, with the winner announced on November 2nd. Get all the details here.

Ontario’s pride and joy, known formally as Alexisonfire, is offering two lucky fans the chance of a lifetime.
Dine Alone Records has teamed up with Tourism Australia and Goway Travel to create one badass contest: “1 winner and a friend will win a trip to Australia to see AOF play at the Melbourne SoundWave Festival date in February, 2010.”

Here’s a list of what you get if you win:

- Two round-trip tickets on Qantas Airways from Vancouver to Australia
- Two tickets to Soundwave Festival 2010 in Melbourne
- Three night accommodations in Melbourne

The Rocket Summer have a little contest going on. If you’re a musician and have a strong grasp of your craft (and love TRS), they’re looking for performers to grace the stage with them on their fall tour. Read all about it below:

ATTENTION

ALL MUSICIANS:

Do you play a musical instrument and want to rock with The Rocket

Summer on stage on the upcoming fall tour? If you play a unique musical

instrument, meaning everything and in-between from the brass family

(horns such as trumpets, tubas, trombone, euphoniums etc) to the

woodwind family (Sax, Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon, Oboe, etc) to the

string family (violin, viola, banjo, mandolin, ukulele) or even

instruments such as bag pipe, the harmonica, the accordion and more… We

are looking for someone in each individual city to rock the sax solo

from the song SO MUCH LOVE with us on his or her instrument!!

Here’s how:

1. Learn the solo on your instrument (does not have to be exact, just

preferably close, however, if not close, just impressive!)

2. Make a video on youtube.

3. Send us a link of the video to RocketSummerSolo@gmail.com with your

Name, Instrument, City of show and Date of show in the subject.

4. If your audition wins for your city, you get to come and play the

solo on stage during So Much Love!

5. For those that don’t win, you will still be thanked and your names

will be mentioned at your city’s show!

New Found Glory Launches Contest; Want to Open for them?

Punk-rock pioneers New Found Glory want the locals to open for their upcoming small-venue tour. Read all the information below from Chad Gilbert himself:

Support Your Local Scene!

Before NFG head out on tour with Dashboard Confessional this fall we will be doing a limited amount of smaller intimate club shows. For the past few years NFG have not been able to hook up local bands due to a full traveling line up. We know how important it is to support local bands and local music scenes. That is how NFG got our start. We use to open locally in South Florida for bands like MxPx, the Get Up Kids, Unwritten Law,Bane etc. Playing those shows helped build our band and build our local scene. This tour will give us an opportunity to finally help out a little.

We ask you to “Tweet” @xchadballx and @steveisdareason some suggestions for local bands to open up the NFG show in their town. Please check http://www.myspace.com/newfoundglory for all the tour dates. Make sure you request bands only for our own headline shows, Not the shows we will be playing with Dashboard Confessional.

We do not want to piss any one off or discourage any bands so NFG will not be picking the specific band. We are just compiling a list of bands that we get the most requests for and submitting it to the local promoter to pick.

Also on all of these shows will be a fellow Floridian band called Fallen From The Sky and Pennsylvania’s TITLE FIGHT!

Go public or go home, says Luis Dubuc of the Secret Handshake. Well, kind of. He wants you to sing along to any TSH of your choosing and record it in a public place. Yep. Not in your room, not in your basement, but in a mall, a public park, anything like that. Only videos filmed in the aforementioned stipulated locations will be considered.
