Amnesia Rockfest Day 2

The second day of the Amnesia Rockfest was incredible. It’s unfortunate that I couldn’t be in two places at once, as there were a lot of great bands playing. With such a diverse lineup, fans of all subgenres of punk rock and metal can see bands they love. Day 3 is going to include some hip hop acts, even more reason to show up!

I was able to see the Deftones for the first time, and they did not disappoint. I had the chance to see them play when I was in high school, but unfortunately this was right at the time that Chino had sustained a throat injury that wiped out several shows for the Deftones. All that to say that they absolutely crushed it, playing mainly songs from their album “Around the Fur”, but also throwing in some newer stuff to round things out. Chino dedicated the song “Head Up” to former bass player Chi Cheng, who passed away in 2013, and they absolutely went off. It was the heaviest song I saw all day. Overall, it was an amazing set. Other amazing sets were put on by Bad Religion, The Bouncing Souls, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Sublime with Rome, Mad Caddies, and Down. Definitely Down.

Five acts I look forward to today are Rancid, who are playing “And Out Come the Wolves” in its entirety, The Real MacKenzies – a Canadian Celtic Punk band, The Pixies – the legendary rock band from Boston, Slayer (need I say more?), and System of a Down, and I imagine I’m not the only one amped for this act. There are more than 40 bands playing today, and there’s a little something for everyone! We had beautiful weather yesterday, and it looks like today is going to be the same, so I really can’t think of a reason not to be at this festival. Can you? If you don’t have a pass, get one here. I highly recommend it. For more information about bands, click here for the full Rockfest lineup.
