Voting for 2010 CBC Radio 3 Bucky Awards begins soon

For the last four years, CBC Radio 3 has run its own brand of music awards. Called the Bucky Awards, they salute Canadian music as chosen and voted on by listeners. Nominations were opened to the public for categories including: Most Canadian Song, Best Live Act, Best New Artist, Best Lyric, Best New Band Name, and more. Once the nominees are whittled down to the most popular, voting for the Bucky Awards will be open on CBC Radio 3′s website beginning on November 1. The awards will be handed out on December 8.

Previous Bucky Award winners include: Vancouver’s Dan Mangan, Winnipeg’s The Weakerthans, Toronto’s Tokyo Police Club, Montreal’s The Dears, Joel Plaskett from Halifax, and Calgary’s Tegan and Sara.
