I Am Committing A Sin – “Grow Past Their Promises” Album Review
Burlington’s punk-rock quintet I Am Committing A Sin recently put out their debut EP, entitled Grow Past Their Promises. This 6-track disc is packed with catchy riffs and deep lyrics reflecting possibly the band’s outlook and take on society.
While most bands’ EP’s seem like a rushed compilation of tracks, IACAS has put together a flowing piece of art. Each track works with the others to amalgamate toward musical genius. Each track has a solid set of lyrics and sounds brilliant. The production quality is amazing for a debut EP, being put out by members of Silverstein on Verona Records.
Lead Singer Daniel Tremblay’s vocals are enough to send chills down your spine. His wide range is there to not only impress listeners, but to get them hooked and singing along. Add in the killer drum fills by drummer Kelly Bilan and you have a strong start. After throwing in the guitar work of Kevin K. and Paul R., the band is pretty much in the clear for a wicked set. Rounding off the group is bassist Andrew B. putting in some strong bass grooves. Looking for a quick download to satisfy your curiosity? “It Belongs In The Museums” is definitely one to check out.
Overall this is a great album and for a debut EP. Grow Past Their Promises is available at HMVs across Canada and on iTunes. Be sure to pick this album up. It’s a purchase you won’t regret!
I Am Committing A Sin is currently on a Cross-Canada tour with Silverstein, Ten Second Epic and A Day To Remember. Not a bad lineup at all if you ask me.
