News

Nearly two-and-a-half years since Southern Weather was released, the Almost will soon be busting out new material on their sophomore album, Monster, Monster. What else is new on TA’s front? Aaron Gillespie and crew will be supporting the Used on their Artwork tour this fall. Read the Almost’s blog below:

Guys, girls!

It’s been a really really long time since I’ve written a blog. I guess probably sometime back in Nashville. We were just starting on the album at that time. The album was a little baby in our collective bellies. We could feel it kicking and knew it was gonna be an awesome one.
Welp. We gave birth to it. It was a fat little, long-haired, tattooed baby of rock. We love it. We’re caring for it. Alex is breast-feeding it. Ok…enough baby metaphors. It’s getting kinda gross.
As I type this, I’m listening to my newly acquired mastered, completed version of “Monster, Monster” for the first time. I can’t lie at say that a big smile isn’t plastered across my goofy southern face. I’m proud of this thing. All of it. We had the best time making it, and I think that comes across in the tunes. I’m sure we’ll release a new song sometime in the coming weeks to hear you approval/disapproval/sarcastic/loving comments. We love ‘em all.
We’re also gonna be releasing a set of shows for late September through November. Some will be headlining with some friends of ours, and some will be supporting a band you’ve heard of before. We’re gonna hopefully be hitting places we haven’t seen in a while, playing a lot of these new songs and few of the choice nugs from the last record. I can’t believe I just typed out “choice nugs.” Whatever… If you make it out to a show, I’m hoping you can meet the guy who’s gonna be back behind the drum kit for us. His name is Joe Musten and he’s one of my oldest and best friends (as in friendship tenure, not actual age…he’s not like Gandalf back there) and one the best drummers I know. Joe and I used to be in a band called Beloved a few years ago, and one of our constant tour buddies was Aaron. It’s funny how things turn out, as we’re all now in the same band, playing rock and roll songs. Joe also has a megal broooootal band called Advent where he sings. They’ll kick you in the junk.
Anyways…We’ve got a lot coming up. We’re gonna be back on the road a lot more often and we’re gonna have a TON of cool news being released really really soon. It seriously warms my heart to think about getting back on the road and seeing a lot of familiar faces. Thanks so much for sticking around with us through all this boring downtime. We read your comments and try to read your emails as much as we can. You guys are amazing and we really love you.
The end.
