They may not be a household name. They may not be plastered all over magazine covers or on TV. However, they are absolutely beyond all of that. They believe in hope, in change, and most of all, that we are all capable of making a difference.
Kiros are a four-piece band, hailing from the west coast of Canada. They’ve toured all over their native country and the US and they’ve slept on countless floors and have driven for consecutive hours; all to share their stories and to help change lives. Like many bands, their music sends out a message; however, their message might be slightly different from that of other bands. They aspire to change lives, and from the looks of it, they’re doing a pretty good job. All four members have strong beliefs in Jesus Christ, but do not impose them on on anyone. They want everyone to know that together, we can make a difference and that we are capable of doing so.
The band also supports World Vision, an organization which allows people to sponsor a child in need and donate $1 a day to help provide for them. Each member of the band has their own sponsor child, and as a band, they all sponsor one together. The remarkable and unique thing is that the band encourages their fans to also donate $1 a day and sponsor a child, and they make it very simple. At their merch table during shows, they have photos of children that are waiting to be sponsored, accompanied by a short story about them. You’re able to choose your child and start helping them that same day.
Having known them personally for nearly five years, I have been able to see them mature as musicians and become the people that they are today. I have also been able to see the effect that they leave on a crowd and the inspiration that they have given to many fans. They have played a big role in my life, helping me become a better person and encouraging me no matter what.
Check them out on MySpace or PureVolume, and if they’re playing in a town near you, let them sleep on your floors.
