When national act Upper Class Trash announced that their singer, JM Chapman, had left the band in 2007, fans of the south Florida pop-punk band wondered where their favorite frontman went. After months of anticipation, JM announced the release of his new electronic pop band Green Green Green, the “most environmentally friendly band EVER”. Finally, after tons of comical video updates, demo releases, and waiting, they dropped their debut e.p. “To Forgive” in early November.

If you’ve ever listened to Upper Class Trash, you know all about their edgy pop-punk sound, the poppy vocals, with intense screams, and all around fun vibes. Get ready to change gears, because Green Green Green is a whole new experience. With JM Chapmans voice, and Captains keyboard, “To Forgive” was a complete breath of fresh air from all the “electronic” music floating around on the scene right now. It opens with a song called “Freckles”, which set a great tone for the rest of the CD with the catchiest of hooks, great electronics, and a dope blend of acoustic drums. Throughout rest of the tracks, JMs vocals are showcased through his pretty falsettos and constant unshakeable melodies. Layered under those are Captains beats, pianos and synths that show his ridiculous amount of creativity, knowledge, and clear mastery of the keyboard, especially in tracks like “Passing Me By” and “Bitter Cold”. These five songs were the most lyrically pleasing and well composed I’ve heard from a local band in a long time, and surpassed my expectations by a mile.

The e.p. is on iTunes now, and is definitely worth the few dollars.
