JACK’S MANNEQUIN VIDEO TO BE DIRECTED BY FAMED “TWILIGHT” AUTHOR STEPHENIE MEYER IN HER DIRECTORIAL DEBUT
BAND TO PERFORM NEW ALBUM — THE GLASS PASSENGER — IN ITS ENTIRETY LIVE ON FALL HEADLINING TOUR
ALBUM OUT ON SIRE RECORDS ON SEPTEMBER 30TH, 2008
September 3, 2008 — Burbank, CA — The music video for “The Resolution,”
the first single from the new album by Jack’s Mannequin, will be
directed by longtime fan Stephenie Meyer, the author behind the highly
popular “Twilight” series of vampire novels. Meyer says, “I’m really
flattered that one of my very favorite bands would want to involve me
in a creative project. I’ve always loved Jack’s Mannequin, and their
new single, The Resolution, is brilliant. It makes me very excited for
the rest of the album.”
Jack’s Mannequin, led by singer-keyboardist Andrew McMahon, will
release its second album, entitled The Glass Passenger, on September
30th, 2008 on Sire/Warner Bros. Records. Production for the video,
which is based on a treatment that Meyer wrote, will begin this week in
Los Angeles.
In tour news, Jack’s Mannequin will launch a headlining run starting in
Atlanta on October 14th, performing The Glass Passenger in its
entirety. The band has just finished a successful run supporting
Paramore and are excited to play new material on the road. This fall
tour, entitled “Hammers and Strings: An evening With Jack’s Mannequin
and The Glass Passenger,” will be unique as the band chose to book
small, intimate clubs instead of large theaters. Those fortunate enough
to score a ticket will be treated to a one of a kind, very close and
personal performance of the new record.
Co-produced by McMahon and Jim Wirt (Incubus, Hoobastank), The Glass
Passenger is the follow-up to Jack’s Mannequin’s debut Everything in
Transit, which was released in August 2005 and debuted at No. 37 on the
Billboard Top 200 album chart.
Like that album, The Glass Passenger was written and recorded over the
course of nearly two years with McMahon going into the studio whenever
inspiration struck. As a result, McMahon describes the album as “a
bizarre balance between present and past. I was trying to use the music
to sort through and reconcile with the adversity of my past.”
Jack’s Mannequin, which McMahon formed in 2004 with guitarist Bobby
Anderson, bassist Jonathan Sullivan, and drummer Jay McMillan in Orange
County, CA, has been busy touring this year and will continue to tour
into the next year.
